The Centre for Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV) yesterday categorised 225 incidents out of 501 polls-related incidents as major cases. Of the total number of incidents, weapons had been used on 68 occasions, a spokesman told The Island. According to him, the ruling coalition had been identified as the perpetrator in 257 cases whereas the UNP and JVP together are accused in 34 cases.
