Colombo stocks –market activity intensifies; turnover low

Market activity somewhat intensified during Wednesday, but the turnover declined compared to the last few days at Rs 775 million, while indices made significant gains, analysts said.

Most shares were actively traded led by the premier conglomerate John Keells Holdings, but this share ended flat like yesterday at Rs 155.

Analysts said that there was Rs 55.1 million net foreign buying. “With the entry of high net-worth, institutional and foreign investors, market activity is expected to remain high,” an analyst said.

All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed at 2,912.88 – up by 0.8% with Milanka gaining 0.05% to close at 3,281.89. (DE C)
