Former general’s wife and children received death threats
Former military commander, General Sarath Fonseka says there is a plan to assassinate him.
Appearing in the High Court for the fifth day to defend the allegations against him, Sarath Fonseka said he learned from reliable sources that there is an attempt to kill him during the transit from the prison to the courts or in the prison cell.
In his statement as the main accused, Sarath Fonseka said that if he is killed, the president, defence secretary and people that worked to put him behind the bars should take the full responsibility.
He said that even though his titles and pension revoked by the authorities, they cannot remove him from the hearts and minds of the people.
Death threats
According to the statement given by former general, his wife, two daughters and a son in law had received death threats.
Speaking to the media after his court appearance on Tuesday, Former Commander of the Sri Lanka army, Sarath Fonseka praised the workers in Katunayake.
“The government will learn more lessons in the future” he added.
Former military commander finished the statement of the accused today (Tuesday) and the case was adjourned till 1st of June.
