Sri Lanka:Ranil Wickramasinghe denies GSP+ allegations

United National Party (UNP) says that it did not make any complaints against the government with regard to GSP + concession to the European Commission (EU)

Opposition Leader Ranil Wicremasinghe told parliament that UNP has requested the EU to lay down conditions on Sri Lanka to respect human rights and extend its assistance to Sri Lanka.

“UNP has not made any complaints to EU but even if it did there was nothing wrong in that”, Wickremasinghe told parliament.

Chief Government whip, MP Dienesh Gunawardena said that complaints made by the UNP were against the country and thousands of employees.

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe replying said that the EU report carries the witnesses to the complaints it received and UNP had no hands it it.
