A couple employed at the elections office of opposition Presidential candidate Gen (Rtd) Sarath Fonseka has filed an anticipatory bail application fearing arrest before Colombo Additional Magistrate, Lal Ranasinghe Bandera.
Daminda Porage and D. Milroy, in filing the anticipatory bail application on February 5, said that they expected the CID would take them into custody for an unbailable offence.
He cited a previous occasion when the CID raided Fonseka’s Rajakeeya Mawatha office and rounded up several people in addition to taking into custody 23 computers including six laptops.
The Police had called at their residence, he said.
Attorneys-at-law, Upali Jayasuriya, Mervin Silva, Namal Rajapakse, Kelum Obeysekara, Sunil Silva, Niseda Gamage and Priyadharshani Ilukkpitiya appeared for the petitioners.
The Magistrate directed the application to be submitted on February 12 for consideration.
