Colombo, June 15 (IANS) Two senior foreign policy advisors to US President Barack Obama are visiting Sri Lanka where they will meet government leaders and members of the civil society.

Samantha Power, Special Assistant to the president on Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, and David Pressman, the National Security Council Director for War Crimes and Atrocities, reached Colombo Monday and will be in the country until Friday.

They will meet senior government officials and members of the civil society in Colombo, Jaffna and Batticaloa.

The visit aims to continue last month’s dialogue between Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris, said a US embassy statement.

The US and several countries have called for national reconciliation following the military’s victory over the Tamil Tigers in May last year in a war that claimed thousands of lives over a quarter century.
